Woof.

This little guy was just passing through on his way to Philadelphia, but I had to grab a shot or two.  He's got perfectly lovely manners...no crazy-puppy stuff for him!  Isn't he a sweet little puff of fur?

And as though he weren't enough...get a load of this face.  Enough said.

The Stuff of Fairy Tales

I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of my sweet, sweet niece this weekend. If you were at all paying attention to the weather on Thursday and Friday, you would have been a bit concerned for this event...outdoor wedding, outdoor reception, early September...anything can happen.  But, if you were at all paying attention to the weather on Saturday, then you know that it was the Most Perfect Day Ever.  Blue skies, gentle breeze, not too terribly hot.  It was unbelievable.

I was also incredibly lucky to have two friends shooting the wedding with me; Kelly Holder of Kelly Holder Photography and Danielle Thompson of Danielle Marie Photo.  We were like the wedding paparazzi!  This wedding deserved three photographers, though, because it was so beautiful...I can't even begin to describe how gorgeous both the wedding and reception were.  Between the horse and carriage, vows under the gazebo, sparkly dress, and the sweetest reception ever, this day had Cinderella written all over it.

About That Little Cabin...

I returned from the wilderness of Ontario a few days ago and am still trying to get the mothball smell out of my clothes.  It was worth it though...I got to spend several days with my brother and one of my sisters while basking in complete and total silence (with the exception of the chattering of one exceptionally angry squirrel) in beautiful weather.

My grandfather bought this cabin in the late 1940's...and it has been in our family ever since.   By a fluke involving the sale of the land that I still don't quite understand, no one else owns property on the lake where the cabin stands and it is very secluded.  No running water, no electricity, backpack your supplies and food in...the whole bit.  We love it.

The three of us spent the entire time doing...well, nothing.  I mean, actually, doing nothing.  For three days.  The extent of our activity involved picking up our chairs and moving them a few feet here or there to get a better look at the squirrel.

Photos could never do the place justice.  Not in what it means to our family, nor to its beauty.

Curls for Days

I had the pleasure of hanging out with little Miss E this morning (on the heels of her second birthday!).  I got to meet her favorite baby doll and talk a lot of Elmo.  I think her mom was a little concerned that E might decide that she was done with pictures before I was...but not to worry.  She cooperated beautifully and was darling to boot!  I still can't get over her hair...absolutely gorgeous.  Thanks, E, for having me!

Here's A Good Story...

Our neighbors spend the summer as a B&B for a group of robins.  Between the hanging plants on the front porch and the wreath on the front door, there are any number of places for them to make homes for a few months.

WebTheDoor

Well, we had been keeping an eye on the robin and babies who were living in the wreath.  Or rather, on the wreath.  (Our neighbors spent the summer not going out the front door lest something happen to the babies.)  It was so entertaining to see the mom swoop in and out under the front porch overhang and just generally strut around being protective of the little ones.

WebTheWreath

Here comes the good part.  One day, I got a phone call from our sitter...apparently, the baby robins had flown the coop, literally, and my girls were going to "help" one of the babies up onto the curb from the street.  Knowing that they weren't supposed to touch birds, so they scooped it up with a sand pail with the intent of placing it back in the grass.

The prospect of actually CAPTURING a robin was far too much excitement to handle, and they decided they would keep the bird in the pail.  And feed it.

WebThePail

Then, if a pail is good, a PURSE is better!  So, they put the robin into a hard-sided, pink purse, shaped like a ladybug.

Our sitter was driving them to summer camp.  The girls were conspiratorially whispering in the back (bad sign). As our sitter dropped them off, she heard something.  A little peep.  From the purse, of course.

Sitter: WHAT IS IN THE PURSE?
Daughter #1: (sudden tears) DON'T TELL MY MOM!!

Oh, I love it.  Nothing like a kid to not think through a whole situation...as in, did they think the bird was going to live in their closet?  In the purse?

Hilarious.

Grateful #2

You may remember me starting a "Grateful Series" a few posts back...I had the opportunity this morning to add another entry to it.

The weather today was spectacular; it was a very autumnal kind of morning with the benefit of looking forward to swimming weather later in the day.  Cool and sunny with really puffy clouds and a nice little breeze...it was gorgeous.

Somehow we ended up in the garage, still in our pajamas, hair all sorts of wacky, at about 8 a.m.  The girls hopped on their scooters and little JM dutifully put on his helmet to "ride" his tricycle (while actually only covering about two and a half feet...but, hey- you can't say the kid isn't safe!).  Everyone was kind of buzzing around, singing a little bit here and there, and even the dogs ended up outside at the top of the driveway with us.

It was just one of those mornings that made me appreciate the summer...no hustle and bustle.  I can't believe it, but we really only have a few more days like that left this year...

Whirlwind

Deep breath.

These last few weeks have been of the "wow" variety...began with a workshop, a visit to Chicago, a trip to Wisconsin, some house guests here and there...oh yeah, and the usual of three kids, two dogs and a business.  In two weeks.

That would explain why it is almost 2pm on a Saturday and I am still in my pajamas.  Because I can be.

But, on to better things...we were able to commandeer some of the most gorgeous models around on an incredible property for our shoot at the workshop.  And though I'll post more in a bit (just wait until you see the little guy with the missing tooth) I thought I had to post this one.

And no...there was no special photoshop magic involved on her eyes; they simply are that beautiful.
